What you need to know about hiring a caregiver. |
What does it cost?Hiring a nanny or caregiver is a process involving you, Service Canada, an Immigration Consultant, our agency and other factors like travel costs. The total investment is a combination of these and we'll be happy to help you understand every step. Many fees are tax deductable from your income. Please consult your tax professional for details.
What do I pay the nanny or caregiver?Each Province has it's own set of guidelines based on total hours worked and minimum wages. Do I have to sign a contract?The only contract is between you and our agency and exists to provide you with a guarantee of a successful placement of your caregiver.
Do I have to sponsor the caregiver's citizenship?No you do not. The caregiver comes to canada on their own work permit as provided by Service Canada.
Do the caregivers speak English?Yes. While many caregivers are from overseas, they do speak English and often more than one language.
What is the screening process for caregivers?All caregiver candidates are thoroughly screened overseas and locally with health & police records, employer referrals and Immigration Canada.
Are caregivers bonded?No. Caregivers are not bonded.
What happens when I no longer need a caregiver?Caregivers are employees and subject to Canadian and Provincial labour regulations.
Where does the caregiver live?Caregivers who choose to live-in require a furnished private bedroom and the use of a washroom (shared).
How long does it take to get a caregiver?After approval by Service Canada (approximately 3 months) it takes approximately 6 months for a caregiver to arrive and begin working in Canada.
Are caregivers living in Canada available to start working right away?Yes. If someone is available. All immigration and agency fees apply as permits and documentation need to be transferred.
